What is Print Day in May?
Print Day in May® is a global celebration of printmaking, observed every year on the first Saturday in May. Printmakers all over the world make a point of doing what they love: making prints. For 24 hours each year, people make prints and share their experience by posting on the PDM blog and in our Facebook group, in addition using social media hashtags on Instagram and Twitter. They work solo or join others in a new environment, and become part of a worldwide printmaking community.
What began in a few local studios in the greater Monterey Bay Area of California in 2007 has become an exhilarating, magical, global worldwide event. In 2018, thousands of artists from all 50 US states, over 50 different countries and all 7 continents participated!
By providing a creative synergy and a forum for sharing and building community, this event unites printmakers worldwide and fosters a better understanding and appreciation of printmaking.
How can I participate?
Join us this year on Saturday, May 4, 2019!
Invite other printmakers to work in your studio, arrange a field trip to some else's studio, make a footprint in the sand or a lip print on a mirror. It's all about making global impressions on on the first Saturday in May.
